Æterna Fragma presents “Noise Waves,” released via Ultramar.Inspired by late-1990s experimental electronic music and generative composition, the artwork explores ideas of movement, erosion, and gradual transformation.
The cover draws from Björk's volcanic rhythms and early algorithmic approaches to sound. These influences take shape as a translucent geological form that appears suspended between solidity and fluidity, suggesting continuous change.
Cool tones and reflective surfaces create depth, while the typography and layout reference visual languages associated with Warp Records and The Designers Republic. Smooth and rough textures sit alongside one another, balancing organic forms with digitally generated structures.
The artwork was created entirely with legacy software. Rather than treating older tools as obsolete, the project uses their limitations and visual character as part of the final result.
